01 / Introduction

## About Harman Bhangu

Harman Bhangu is the Conservative Party of BC candidate in Langley-Abbotsford on Elections BC's candidate list for the general election of October 24, 2026. The copy read for this record, stamped October 1, 2026 at 1:00 p.m., lists no other accepted candidate in the district. Nominations close at 1 p.m. on October 3, 2026.

He won Langley-Abbotsford in 2024 for the Conservative Party with 14,341 votes, 55.65 percent of the valid vote, according to Elections BC's statement of votes. John Aldag of the BC NDP was second with 8,691 votes (33.73 percent). On October 1, 2026, the legislature's member data lists him as an active member for Langley-Abbotsford in the 43rd Parliament, with the Conservative Party of British Columbia, and lists no change of party.

He first ran for the legislature in the Surrey South by-election of September 10, 2022, for the Conservative Party. Elections BC's statement of votes shows him in third place with 1,364 votes (12.70 percent). My Kootenay Now ties that run to the MLA.

In February 2026 he entered the race to lead the Conservative Party of BC. The Abbotsford News reported on March 16, 2026 that he had withdrawn and endorsed Caroline Elliott.

On August 27, 2026, Elections BC approved in principle his application for an initiative petition to repeal the Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples Act. My Cariboo Now describes that 2019 law as one that requires the government to make provincial laws consistent with the United Nations Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples. Elections BC says the petition is issued to him on October 26, 2026, and that signatures are due by January 25, 2027.

In the legislature in 2026 he asked questions as transportation critic in the Transportation and Transit estimates debate on May 6, 7 and 19. He also spoke on the budget, autism funding, extortion crime, B.C. Ferries, online licence renewal and the freedom of information bill (Bill 9).

The legislature's own member text calls him Official Opposition Critic for Transportation. A caucus release of October 1, 2025 named him critic for jobs and economic development. A caucus release of June 30, 2026 names him critic for transportation, and one of September 9, 2026 calls him Shadow Minister for Transportation and Tourism.

The party and caucus pages say he spent 17 years in heavy-load trucking and aggregate hauling, was elected party vice-president in 2022 and served as regional director for Surrey. He told the legislature he came from the trucking industry. voche.me has not checked these roles with another body.

voche.me found no campaign website of his own on 2026-10-01. harmanbhangu.com sends visitors to a page that holds no text, and harmanforleader.ca, his 2026 party leadership site, returns HTTP 404. His X account (@HarmanBhanguBC) and Instagram account (harmanbhangubc) show only a sign-in page and a profile line to direct reads, so no post is used. His leadership announcement and his March 2026 endorsement are used only as news outlets quoted them. The party's candidate page labels him "Interim Conservative Party Leader". The party's team page lists him only as the Langley-Abbotsford candidate, so voche.me does not repeat that label. His trucking career, his years in the industry, his role as party vice-president from 2022 and as regional director for Surrey, and his football coaching come from the party, the caucus and the legislature's own member text, and from his own words in the legislature. voche.me has not checked them with another body. The Elections BC copy read for this record lists him as the only accepted candidate in Langley-Abbotsford; nominations close at 1 p.m. on October 3, 2026, so other candidates may still be added. Votes are taken from the 2026 vote index; the transcripts of those votes were not opened. His 2025 speeches were read only through the 2025 index. Caucus releases from 2025 other than the two cited were not read. His December 2024 letter to B.C. Ferries was not read. theBreaker's 2024 report on his nomination cites an unnamed source on how members voted; that claim is not used. voche.me did not find a court result for the 2024 petition against the party's nomination process. A podcast episode with him on trucking was found by search and not listened to. No all-candidates meeting in Langley-Abbotsford was found on this date. Campaign finances and endorsements were not reviewed. The questionnaire has not been sent.

Research status

## What voche.me has checked

Evidence reviewed on 2026-10-01: the Elections BC candidate list, key dates page and petition notice, the statements of votes for 2024 and for the 2022 Surrey South by-election, the legislature's member data, its 2026 speech and vote indexes and 21 transcripts from 2026 where he spoke, the 2025 speech index, the party candidate, team and platform pages, the caucus page and 11 caucus releases, and news reports from 2024 and 2026.

His commitments on this page come mostly from what he said in the legislature in 2026 and from caucus releases that quote him. No campaign website of his own was found. Sections with no entry record that voche.me found nothing on this date.
