01 / Introduction
## About Douglas Courtemanche
Elections BC lists Douglas Courtemanche as the BC Green Party candidate in Vancouver-Quilchena, on the candidate list stamped October 3, 2026 09:00:06 PM. The same list shows Carson Binda (Conservative Party), Dallas Brodie (OneBC), Petra Kuret (CentreBC) and Callista Ryan (BC NDP) in the district. Nominations close at 1 p.m. on October 3, 2026, so more names may be added.
His BC Green Party candidate page, which is campaign text, calls him "a semi-retired craniofacial surgeon, clinical professor and health researcher with more than 35 years of experience caring for patients in British Columbia's healthcare system." It says he grew up in Vancouver-Quilchena, studied medicine at the University of British Columbia and trained as a plastic surgeon. It lists these roles: President of the BC Medical Association's Section of Plastic Surgery, Medical Staff President at BC Children's and Women's Hospital, Clinical Professor in UBC's Department of Surgery since 2008, and investigator with the BC Children's Research Institute. It says he has contributed to more than 80 publications and received the Planetary Health Award from the Canadian Society of Plastic Surgeons in 2025. voche.me has not checked any of these against the bodies that would know, so each is the campaign's claim.
His page quotes him: "I want to bring my experience caring for people, advocating for patients, teaching students and conducting health research to help people, communities and the planet." It names no policy measure. The BC Green Party's 2026 plan page does not name him, and its full platform is listed as coming soon.
In 2024 Dallas Brodie won Vancouver-Quilchena for the Conservative Party with 11,464 votes (51.58 percent), according to Elections BC's statement of votes. Callista Ryan (BC NDP) received 8,649 votes (38.91 percent) and Michael Barkusky, the BC Green Party candidate, received 1,729 (7.78 percent). BC Ballot says Courtemanche has no previous run, term or finance report on record. voche.me has not contacted the campaign.

His background comes from one page, his BC Green Party candidate page, and each statement on it is the campaign's own claim. The roles, the 2008 appointment, the publication count and the 2025 award were not checked against the BC Medical Association, the hospital, UBC, the BC Children's Research Institute or the Canadian Society of Plastic Surgeons. No campaign website of his own, social media account tied to this candidacy, news report, interview, all-candidates meeting or endorsement was found on 2026-10-03. His party page links to no social media account, and its events list read "There are no upcoming events". The party's media releases page, read to its newest entries of October 2, 2026, names neither him nor Vancouver-Quilchena. The name search was limited: the WebSearch tool had reached its usage limit, Bing returned unrelated pages, and DuckDuckGo, Google and Brave refused or returned no readable results. Google News returned pages that name a Doug Courtemanche or a D. J. Courtemanche in medicine and in an environmental health group, and a PubMed search returned papers by a D. J. Courtemanche on cleft and craniofacial care. No page opened states that any of them is this candidate, so none is used. BC Ballot's statement that he has no previous run or finance report is its own and was not checked at Elections BC. The BC Green Party's plan page says its full platform is coming soon. The questionnaire has not been sent.

## What voche.me has checked
Evidence reviewed on 2026-10-03: the Elections BC candidate list, key dates page and 2024 statement of votes; the BC Green Party's candidates page, his candidate page, plan page, media releases page and site search; the BC Ballot pages for him and for Vancouver-Quilchena; and name searches. The name search was limited: the WebSearch tool had reached its usage limit, so voche.me used Google News, Bing, PubMed and the party and news sites directly. Bing returned unrelated pages, and DuckDuckGo, Google and Brave refused or returned no readable results.
His party page is the only source for his background, and it is campaign text, so each biographical statement above is attributed to the campaign. No campaign website of his own, social media account tied to this candidacy, news report or interview was found. An empty section records what voche.me did not find on this date. The candidate may have published material that these searches did not reach.
