01 / Introduction

## About David L Williams

David L Williams is the Conservative Party of BC candidate in Salmon Arm-Shuswap on Elections BC's list for the general election of October 24, 2026. The Elections BC statement of votes for 2024 names "David L. Williams" as the Conservative winner in the district, with 16,566 votes, 52.11% of the valid vote. The legislature's member data lists David L. Williams as the Conservative member for Salmon Arm-Shuswap in the 43rd Parliament. The party's candidate page asks voters to "re-elect" him, and Frequency reported on September 30, 2026 that the incumbent MLA is the candidate on the Elections BC list. These sources tie the ballot name to the sitting member.

In the legislature in 2026 he spoke against the 2026 budget and against Bill 9, which changes the freedom of information law. He asked the Minister of Energy and Climate Solutions questions on BC Hydro during the budget review of that ministry, and on May 21, 2026 he introduced a private member's bill called the Small Farms Act. The recorded vote index lists him voting no on the budget motion, the Supply Act and Bill 9.

A Conservative caucus release of June 30, 2026 names him Critic for BC Hydro and Electrical Energy Development. That is a role in the party's caucus, set by the party.

The party's candidate page says he worked in heating and air conditioning, then in real estate, with BC Assessment and as a regional appraiser in Saskatchewan, and later as a loss control specialist and appraiser in insurance. It also says he was a board director of the Kelowna Metis Community Services Society, chaired the Columbia Shuswap Regional District Board of Variance, and sat on the Salmon Arm Property Assessment Review Panel. These are the party's own statements. voche.me did not check them against the bodies named.

### Re-post of a western separation map

Black Press Media reported that on March 30, 2025 Williams re-posted on his personal Facebook page a map titled "The Republic of Western Canada: A Protectorate of the United States", and later deleted it. Premier David Eby criticized the post, the report says.

#### Candidate or party response

Williams told Black Press Media he does not endorse western separatism and is a proud Canadian. He told Castanet he did not read the post with care before posting it, and that Canada is an independent country.

#### Verified status and limits

No campaign website of his own was found; his constituency website shows only a notice that the legislature is dissolved. His party candidate page lists no news and no commitments. His Facebook page was not identified or read, so nothing from it is used. The party's candidate page labels him "Interim Conservative Party Leader"; the same label appears on other Conservative candidate pages, and the caucus release of June 30, 2026 names Kerry-Lynne Findlay as leader, so voche.me does not repeat it. His past jobs, his board seat at the Kelowna Metis Community Services Society, his chair role at the Columbia Shuswap Regional District Board of Variance, his seat on the Salmon Arm Property Assessment Review Panel and his board seat at the Historic O'Keefe Ranch were not checked with those bodies. A 2025 piece by his constituency office in the South Shuswap Scoop claims a fireboat station permit, road paving and watershed work; voche.me did not check these and does not list them as his record. Votes are taken from the vote index; the transcripts of most votes were not opened. His introductions of visitors and his Bill 9 speech of March 10, 2026 were not read line by line. Debates from 2025 were not searched. No 2026 all-candidates meeting in Salmon Arm-Shuswap was found. Campaign finances and endorsements were not reviewed. The questionnaire has not been sent.

His commitments on this page come from what he said in the legislature in 2026, from his X account and from a local news report that quotes him. No campaign website of his own was found. Sections with no entry record that voche.me found nothing on this date.
