01 / Introduction

## About David Evans

Elections BC lists David Evans as the BC Green Party candidate in Juan de Fuca-Malahat. The party announced his candidacy on September 24, 2026. In that release he says politicians have let global corporations take value from the province while inequality grows and good jobs disappear.

He was also the party's candidate in the district in 2024. The 2024 statement of votes gives him 5,522 votes, or 23.01 percent, in third place. Dana Lajeunesse of the BC NDP won with 9,308 votes (38.79 percent), ahead of Marina Sapozhnikov of the Conservative Party with 9,167 votes (38.20 percent). The party says he won its 2024 nomination contest with 70.2 percent of the vote, and the Sooke News Mirror reported that the nomination meeting was held in Metchosin on May 11, 2024.

The Sooke News Mirror reported in 2024 that he moved to Sooke in 1997 and ran the Stick in the Mud coffee business there. A 2025 Sooke News Mirror article says a community co-operative was set up in 2023 to buy the Stick in the Mud café from him, and that the café now runs as Cafe Vosino. In a 2024 questionnaire he told the Times Colonist that he opened the café in 2007 and kept a wholesale coffee roasting business after the sale.

The party says he worked in radio and as distribution supervisor at the Vancouver Food Bank, started a landscaping company in Victoria, and holds an Applied Arts Degree from Toronto Metropolitan University. voche.me has not checked these statements with the employers or the university.

voche.me has not contacted the campaign. Commitments marked as 2024 material come from his last campaign and are shown without a score as his own words.

No campaign website of his own was found by search or on the party page. His Facebook page (DavidEvansJFM) and Instagram account (davidevansjfm), both linked from the party page, show no posts without signing in, so nothing from them is used. Five Island Social Trends articles about his 2024 campaign returned HTTP 503 to direct reads and to the WebFetch tool on 2026-09-30, so they are not used. Two Goldstream News Gazette links redirect to that site's home page; the Sooke News Mirror copies of the same stories were read instead. Apart from one quote in the party's announcement, no 2026 statement of his on a provincial issue was found, so his transit, housing, health and climate positions are shown as 2024 material. No 2026 all-candidates meeting in the district was found on this date. The party's statements that he worked in radio and at the Vancouver Food Bank, started a landscaping company, employed up to 20 people, and holds a degree from Toronto Metropolitan University have not been checked with those employers or the university. His campaign finances and endorsements were not found on this date.
