01 / Introduction

## About Carol Bourque

Carol Bourque is the BC NDP candidate for MLA in Prince George-Valemount on Elections BC's list for the general election of October 24, 2026. The copy of the list stamped October 1, 2026 10:00:06 PM names two accepted candidates in the district: Rosalyn Bird of the Conservative Party and Carol Bourque of the BC NDP. Nominations close at 1 p.m. on October 3, 2026. On September 28 the Prince George Citizen reported that OneBC had named Mitchell Lukoni as its candidate in the district.

In 2024, Conservative Rosalyn Bird won Prince George-Valemount with 9,018 votes (55.19 percent). The BC NDP candidate that year, Clay Pountney, received 5,709 votes (34.94 percent), and Gwen Johansson of the BC Green Party received 1,612 (9.87 percent), according to the Elections BC statement of votes. voche.me searched the whole 2024 statement of votes for the surname Bourque on 2026-10-01 and found no line for it.

The BC NDP announced her candidacy in a release on September 26, 2026, which the Prince George Citizen and My Prince George Now reported. The party says she has more than 30 years of public sector service, 14 of them in health information management with Northern Health, and experience in governance and community problem solving. The party's biography, as the Prince George Citizen reported it, says she is Indigenous, was born and raised in Prince George, and brought the Tampon Tuesday campaign to Prince George in 2018 to collect menstrual products for women in need. These are the party's own statements, and voche.me has not confirmed them with Northern Health or the campaign organizers.

A later Prince George Citizen report, of September 28, 2026, describes her as a member of the Health Sciences Association and says she led the local Tampon Tuesday campaign in 2018.

voche.me found no campaign website, social media account or interview of hers on 2026-10-01, and has not contacted the campaign.

voche.me found no campaign website, social media account, interview or public statement of her own on 2026-10-01, apart from the party release quoted in the news. The address carolbourque.bcndp.ca, the pattern the party uses for its candidates' pages, did not load: it sends the reader back to the same address in a loop. The BC NDP's online candidate list held 52 names on 2026-10-01 and none for Prince George-Valemount. The party release of September 26, 2026 was not on the party's releases page, so it was read only as the Prince George Citizen and My Prince George Now quoted it. The Prince George Citizen site refuses direct reads, so both of its reports were read through Internet Archive copies. Her Northern Health work, her years of service, her union membership and her role in the 2018 Tampon Tuesday campaign come from the party and from news reports; voche.me has not confirmed them with Northern Health, the Health Sciences Association or the campaign organizers. A journalist's post on X that lists her among nine BC NDP candidates sits behind a login and was not used. A Downtown Prince George page on 2026 candidates returned no readable text. The portrait is a party photo published by the Prince George Citizen; voche.me found no copy published on a party page. All-candidates meetings in the district, campaign finances and endorsements were not found on this date. Nominations close October 3, 2026, so other candidates may still be added. The questionnaire has not been sent.
