## About Brittny Anderson

Brittny Anderson is the BC NDP candidate in Kootenay Central on Elections BC's list for the general election of October 24, 2026. She won the district in 2024 with 8,716 votes, 39.63% of the valid vote, according to the Elections BC statement of votes.

She was first elected in 2020 in Nelson-Creston, with 7,296 votes, 41.78% of the valid vote. The legislature record lists her election years as 2020 and 2024 and shows her as Minister of State for Local Governments and Rural Communities from November 18, 2024. The Premier's mandate letter asks her to be the main contact in government for local governments and to work with rural and remote communities.

The government biography says she was elected to Nelson City Council in 2018, served on the board of the Regional District of Central Kootenay, and was Parliamentary Secretary for Tourism and the Premier's Special Advisor on Youth before 2024. The Grand Forks Gazette reported that she was still a Nelson city councillor when she was first elected MLA.

The same biography says she studied at Selkirk College, holds a bachelor's degree from UBC Okanagan and a master's degree from Central European University, and co-founded The Cannabis Conservancy. voche.me did not check these with the schools or the company.

In 2026 she spoke in the legislature for the budget and for Bill 15, and government releases quote her on local government conduct rules, housing approvals, a new CT scanner in Nelson and grants in the Kootenays. Her campaign page describes her work and lists the party's headings. It states no measures of its own.

Her committee debates as Minister of State (estimates) were not read; the 2026 members index lists only debates in the House. Her 15 introductions of visitors in 2026 were not opened. Votes are taken from the vote index only; the transcripts of those votes were not opened. voche.me did not confirm whether Bill 17, the local government code of conduct bill, passed. The rural lens and the local government awareness project were announced at UBCM in 2025; the government releases for those announcements were not found. Her BC NDP caucus page and her own site brittnyanderson.ca answered HTTP 503. Her X page shows a few posts without a year, and Facebook and Instagram show a sign-in page; nothing from them is used. The Cross Border Interviews audio interview with her was not heard. Her dates as Parliamentary Secretary for Tourism and Special Advisor on Youth, her Nelson council term, her education and her business work were not checked against official records beyond the government biography. No 2026 all-candidates meeting for Kootenay Central was found. Campaign finances and endorsements were not reviewed. The questionnaire has not been sent.
