## About Brennan Day

Brennan Day is the Conservative Party candidate in Courtenay-Comox on the Elections BC candidate list stamped October 3, 2026 10:00:06 AM, and the sitting member for the district. The Elections BC statement of votes for 2024 shows that he received 13,481 votes, 38.83% of the valid vote, for the Conservative Party. Ronna-Rae Leonard of the BC NDP, the member of the 42nd Parliament, received 13,388 votes (38.56%), 93 fewer than Day. Arzeena Hamir of the BC Green Party received 7,202 votes. The legislature’s record lists 2024 as his election year for Courtenay-Comox.

The records name his party in different ways. The legislature’s record for the 43rd Parliament, read on October 3, 2026, lists him as Independent, and lists his 2024 election for the Conservative Party of British Columbia. The Elections BC list gives his affiliation as Conservative Party. Victoria News reported on August 26, 2026 that he was leaving the Conservative Party, the fifth caucus member to go in less than two weeks, and quoted his statement that he had lost confidence in leader Kerry-Lynne Findlay’s “judgment, conduct, and ethical standards”. The Comox Valley Record reported on September 23 that he announced on Facebook on September 22 that he was rejoining the party, and quoted the post: “My values have not changed. But the leadership and direction over the last few weeks have.”

Conservative caucus releases of October 1, 2025 and June 30, 2026 list him as critic for seniors and rural health. A committee notice of May 19, 2026 lists him as deputy chair of the Special Committee to Review Provisions of the Insurance (Vehicle) Act. The legislature’s member record lists no roles for him.

In 2026 he introduced Bill M232, the Long Term Care Access and Transparency Act, which passed second reading on March 9 and went to a committee. He spoke in the legislature on the budget, long-term care, primary care, the seniors’ property tax deferment program, Bill 9 on freedom of information, the K’ómoks Treaty Act and other topics. The dossier below draws on 33 transcripts from 2026.

His campaign site and the party candidate page say he is a longtime Comox Valley resident who was executive director of the Eureka Support Society, a mental-health clubhouse organization, and that he worked in project management in Canada and internationally. The campaign site also says he studied political science and international relations at Vancouver Island University and the University of Calgary. Those are the campaign’s and the party’s own statements.

### Day’s name on a letter backing Aaron Gunn

My Comox Valley Now reported on April 8, 2025 that a letter by North Island MLA Anna Kindy supporting federal candidate Aaron Gunn was signed by several local officials, including Day. The BC NDP caucus said the same day that a Facebook post showed an email in which Day appears to say he did not consent to his name being on the letter. The caucus asked whether Day stands behind the letter. voche.me did not open the Facebook post.

#### Candidate or party response

Kindy said using the legislature letterhead was a mistake. voche.me found no public statement from Day on the letter.

#### Verified status and limits

The BC NDP caucus is the claimant. voche.me found no official finding and no later statement from Day.

### Pride Society letter on a first reading vote

The Pride Society of the Comox Valley made public a letter dated October 20, 2025 to Day. It said the bill introduced on October 8 by Tara Armstrong threatens the safety of transgender, Two-Spirit and non-binary youth, and objected to his vote for first reading. The transcript of October 8 lists Day among the 40 members who voted in favour; the motion was defeated, 40 to 48.

#### Candidate or party response

Day wrote back that his vote was “not an endorsement of the bill’s contents or any one side of the debate” and that first reading is a procedural step. He told CHLY that he wanted the issue discussed in full view of the public.

#### Verified status and limits

The Pride Society is the claimant. voche.me found no official finding.

  Comox Valley Record · October 2, 2026

</details>

The legislature record read on 2026-10-03 lists him as Independent in the 43rd Parliament and lists his 2024 election for the Conservative Party of British Columbia. A separate party field on the top-level member record in the same data service names the British Columbia Green Party. voche.me found no source that explains the Green Party entry and does not use it. The Elections BC list stamped October 3, 2026 10:00:06 AM gives his affiliation as Conservative Party. News reports say he left the caucus on August 26, 2026 and announced on September 22 that he was rejoining; voche.me found no party or legislature record of the rejoining and no source that states why the legislature record still reads Independent. His constituency site brennanday.ca shows a notice that it is inactive during the campaign. His Facebook campaign page and YouTube channel returned no readable posts, so nothing from them is used; the Facebook post of September 22 is known only from the Comox Valley Record. Direct reads of x.com/MLABrennanDay returned HTTP 404 with a not-found page, although a search result lists that address, so nothing from X is used. His work as executive director of the Eureka Support Society, his degrees and his earlier business career come from his campaign site and the party candidate page. voche.me could not open a report or record of his time at the society, so those claims are not verified and are attributed to the campaign. The Conservative platform page says the platform is coming soon and does not name him. No campaign events were found other than a Comox Valley Chamber of Commerce meeting on October 15; whether he attends is unconfirmed. The BC NDP caucus page about the Kindy letter answered HTTP 503 and was read from an Internet Archive copy; the Facebook post it describes was not opened. The Select Standing Committee transcript on Bill M232 and the committee transcripts of the Insurance (Vehicle) Act review were not found. The transcripts of the recorded votes were not opened. Speeches from 2024 and 2025 were not read, other than the October 8, 2025 division. Introductions of guests and members’ statements on local events were read but are not used. No ministry release quoting him was found, which is expected for a member of the opposition. Campaign finances and endorsements were not reviewed. The questionnaire has not been sent.

Research status

## What voche.me has checked

Evidence reviewed on 2026-10-03: the Elections BC candidate list stamped October 3, 2026 10:00:06 AM and the 2024 statement of votes, the legislature’s member record, its 2026 speech and vote indexes and 33 transcripts from 2026, the party candidate and platform pages, two caucus releases, his campaign site, and news reports from 2025 and 2026.

The records name his party in different ways. The Elections BC list gives Conservative Party. The legislature’s record for the 43rd Parliament lists Independent and lists his 2024 election for the Conservative Party of British Columbia. A separate party field on the member record in the same data service names the British Columbia Green Party, and voche.me found no source that explains it. News reports say he left the caucus on August 26 and announced on September 22 that he was rejoining the party. voche.me found no party or legislature record of the rejoining.

His commitments on this page come from what he said in the legislature in 2026 and from his campaign site. The accountability section holds 2 public disputes from 2025, each with a named claimant and no official finding. Sections with no entry record that voche.me found nothing on this date.
