01 / Introduction

## About Alex McMillan

Elections BC lists Alex McMillan as the Conservative Party candidate in Vancouver-Point Grey. The copy of the list read on 2026-10-01, stamped October 1, 2026 11:00:06 PM, shows three accepted nominations in the district: Michael Davis of CentreBC, David Eby of the BC NDP and Alex McMillan. Nominations close at 1 p.m. on October 3, 2026, so more candidates may be added.

The Western Standard reported on September 28, 2026 that the party had announced him as its candidate against the Premier. The report quotes the party's post on X of September 27, 2026, which calls him a business leader and a former chief executive of the BC Chamber of Commerce.

The party's candidate page says he was CEO (Interim) of the BC Chamber of Commerce and that in February he went back to a consulting practice he started in 2020. It says he began his career as a senior political staff member, then worked as a civil servant in provincial ministries in Victoria, spent five years at a large public relations firm, and later advised a forestry company on its dealings with the provincial government and local governments. These are the party's statements. voche.me has not checked the earlier roles with the employers.

The BC Chamber of Commerce published a statement on June 10, 2025 saying that Alex McMillan had accepted the role of interim CEO, and that he had supported the Chamber's policy work for the four years before. Its release of December 17, 2025 says Jen Riley would become CEO on January 12, 2026 and that he would stay until February 6, 2026. These dates match the party's account that he left in February. The Chamber says it speaks for local chambers of commerce, boards of trade and businesses across the province.

The Western Standard report also says he was a senior adviser at the Mining Association of BC and founded a consulting firm named McMillan Solutions. voche.me has not confirmed either with the association or a business registry.

David Eby won the district in 2024 with 12,538 votes (56.77 percent), according to Elections BC's statement of votes. Paul Ratchford, the Conservative Party candidate that year, received 7,622 votes (34.51 percent), and Devyani Singh of the BC Green Party received 1,925 (8.72 percent). voche.me searched the whole statement for the surname McMillan and found no match.

A LinkedIn profile under his name, with the firm name McMillan Solutions, appeared in search results; LinkedIn did not show it without signing in, so nothing from it is used. No X, Facebook or Instagram account of his own was found. The party's candidate page labels him "Interim Conservative Party Leader". The party's own team page lists him only as the Vancouver-Point Grey candidate, and its releases name Lorne Doerkson as leader, so voche.me does not repeat that label. His interim CEO role at the BC Chamber of Commerce is confirmed by the Chamber's own statements. His work as a political staff member and civil servant, at a public relations firm and for a forestry company, and the start of his consulting practice in 2020, are stated by the party; voche.me has not checked them. The Western Standard's mention of a Mining Association of BC role was not confirmed with the association. The party's platform page says the platform is coming soon and does not name him.
