The Fort Langley Remembrance Day Society holds its annual ceremony at the Fort Langley Cenotaph on Tuesday, November 11, 2026. The ceremony begins at 10:30 a.m. If you plan to drive, Glover Road closes at 9:45 a.m., and the organizing society advises arriving before 10 a.m.

Both the Langley Advance Times and the Aldergrove Star reported on November 8 that thousands of people are expected to attend. The Fort Langley Remembrance Day Society's website says all are welcome to attend and pay their respects. An Order of Service document is available at the event, according to the society's website.

## Where the ceremony takes place

The ceremony is at the Fort Langley Cenotaph at the northeast corner of Fort Langley Cemetery, at the corner of Glover Road and St. Andrews Avenue.

Accessible parking is reserved at St. Andrews Church, 9025 Glover Rd., for veterans, elderly attendees, and people with disabilities, according to the organizing society. All other drivers are advised to arrive before 10 a.m. The road closure on Glover Road takes effect at 9:45 a.m. The organizing society advises arriving early because traffic becomes heavy once the closure is in place, the Langley Advance Times reported.

## Who organizes it

The Fort Langley Remembrance Day Society organizes the ceremony each year. Jonathan Meads, the society's Service Director, told the Langley Advance Times: "There's two stages. So our committee consists of eight people, all with a variety of tasks. But then on the day, the Lions and their scouting guide movements come out en masse."

The eight-member planning committee begins work in July, the Langley Advance Times reported. That work includes applying for Veterans Affairs Canada funding, renting a PA system, portable facilities, and video equipment, arranging permits and road closures, and coordinating with Township of Langley engineering staff.

Between 30 and 35 volunteers assist on the day itself, including members of the Fort Langley Lions Club and local scouting and guide groups, according to the Langley Advance Times. Setup begins before sunrise. The society's website says the ceremony includes a procession beginning on the cemetery's west side, with veterans, first responders, and elected officials taking part.

## The cenotaph

The cenotaph is currently considered safe, according to the Aldergrove Star. Protective chains remain around the monument as a precaution. Dignitaries lay wreaths through a removable section of the chain during the ceremony. Other attendees place wreaths around the perimeter of the chain.

The monument stands at the northeast corner of Fort Langley Cemetery, at Glover Road and St. Andrews Avenue. The Fort Langley Remembrance Day Society's website says an Order of Service document is available for attendees who wish to follow the program during the ceremony.

## Remembrance Day

Veterans Affairs Canada describes Remembrance Day as a time to honour the memory and legacy of fallen Canadians, veterans, and current service members who have served and sacrificed for the country. The Fort Langley Remembrance Day Society applies to Veterans Affairs Canada for funding each year as part of its planning process, the Langley Advance Times reported.

The Fort Langley ceremony is one of several Remembrance Day events held across Langley Township on November 11. It draws thousands of people each year from Langley Township and neighbouring communities, according to the Langley Advance Times and the Aldergrove Star.

## Livestream

A livestream of the ceremony begins at 10:15 a.m. on November 11 at [www.FortLangleyRemembers.com](http://www.FortLangleyRemembers.com) and on the society's Facebook page at @fortlangleyremembrance, the Langley Advance Times reported. The ceremony itself starts at 10:30 a.m., so the livestream starts 15 minutes before the ceremony begins. The society's website lists both addresses on its main page.

## Supporting the society

The Fort Langley Remembrance Day Society accepts monetary donations by mail at Box 1193, Fort Langley, BC, V1M 2S5, according to its website. The society uses donations alongside Veterans Affairs Canada funding to cover the cost of equipment rental, permits, and other expenses for the annual ceremony. That equipment includes a PA system, portable facilities, and video equipment for the livestream, the Langley Advance Times reported.

## What you can do

If you plan to attend in person, arrive before 10 a.m. on November 11. Glover Road closes at 9:45 a.m., so plan your route around that closure.
