01 / Introduction

## About Teresa Townsley

Teresa Townsley was elected to the Township of Langley Council on October 17, 2026, with 15,251 votes, fifth of the 20 candidates for the eight seats, in the Township's official results declared on October 21, 2026. The Langley Advance Times reported that she and Lauren Chalus were the two new councillors elected with the Langley Strong team, which also won the mayor's chair for Jay Lundgren and all five Township seats on the Langley Board of Education. The Township's 2022 results give her 5,374 votes as an independent candidate for Council, 13th of 28. The new Council's inaugural meeting is on November 2, 2026.

The Advance Times reported on May 19, 2026 that Langley Strong had announced her and Chalus as council candidates, and, from the team's announcement, that she opened Festina Lente Estate Winery in South Langley in 2016, is a founding member and former co-chair of the Langley Farmers Institute, was vice-chair of Tourism Langley and sat on the Township's Agricultural Advisory and Economic Enhancement Committee. In August 2023 the paper quoted her for the winery when it hosted an Australian cultural festival. By her own account on the Langley Strong site she moved to Langley in 2010, built the winery on five acres and is vice-chair of the New Wave Wine Society. voche.me has not checked the committee seat or the volunteer roles.

By her own account she worked in emergency and trauma nursing at Surrey Memorial and St. Paul's hospitals, was one of BC's first sexual assault nurse examiners and built nursing research programs at both hospitals; she was vice-chair of the Delta Board of Education, a signing officer on a $122 million budget during a financial crisis and a restructuring; she sat on the Delta Police Board and represented Delta at the Canadian Association of Police Boards; and she studied English literature at Simon Fraser University. In her 2022 questionnaire for the Advance Times she wrote that she had been elected a trustee in Delta, and in its 2026 profile that the election was in 2005 and that she ran federally in 2008. Langley Strong's announcement repeats the Delta roles and says she received the Burns Bog Spirit of the Cranes award. voche.me found no independent record of the Delta roles or the award, so all of them are her own account.

Langley Strong's safety pillar release of September 28, 2026 says she wrote the pillar with Barb Martens; in it she said that in an emergency room one learns that prevention is better than response, and named more fire inspectors, safer street design and check-ins for first responders after hard calls. In the seniors release she said holding the line on costs can be the difference between health and homelessness for some neighbours; in the children's release she promised to treat child care as a priority with identified sites, faster approvals and lower fees for licensed providers; in the neighbours release she said the Township's relationship with Fraser Health would be rebuilt on her first day; and in the farmland release she called for fair rules whether or not a farm business is in the Agricultural Land Reserve and for lobbying the Province to bring a veterinary school to Langley.

At the Fort Langley all-candidates meeting on September 21, 2026 she spoke on service standards for permitting and development decisions, saying that as a business owner she knew a permitting delay has real costs, and at the Chamber of Commerce meeting on September 29 she raised the Township's borrowing capacity and called the debt large, the Advance Times reported. On October 6 the paper reported that she had been in a car crash on October 5 on her way to the Aldergrove all-candidates meeting and missed it. On her Langley Strong page she lists seven priorities: a line-by-line budget review, a no call too small standard for police and fire, food security and farm viability with farm status for horse boarding, public space and sidewalks built with each development, a case manager as a single point of contact at Township Hall, closed sessions kept to land, labour and legal matters, and low or no cost access to public facilities for young people.

06

### Child care sites, faster approvals and lower fees for licensed providers

## What voche.me has checked

Researched on 2026-10-30 through the seven search steps listed below: the Township's results page, declaration of candidates and About the Candidates page, and its 2022 results; her page on the Langley Strong site, the team page, the full platform, the team's announcement of May 19 and the releases of September 11, 16 and 28 and October 2 and 6, 2026 that quote her; her VoteMate page; the Fraser Valley News Network's item of May 20; the Advance Times' questionnaire of October 7, 2022, its report of August 26, 2023, its candidate profile of October 8, 2026 and its reports of May 19, September 11 and 24, October 3, 6, 7, 17 and 19, 2026.

Her nursing career, her Delta school board and police board roles, her Tourism Langley and Farmers Institute roles and her award are her own account; the Advance Times printed the Langley roles from the team's announcement, and voche.me found no independent record of the Delta roles. Her Facebook and Instagram accounts, the ones she gave the Township, were not read, because both sites show a login page to scripts. She held no elected office in the Township before the vote, so no Township minutes apply.
