Councillor · Langley Township 2026

# Lauren Chalus

- Elected, Councillor14,650 votes, 6th of 20. Official count, Township of Langley. [All results](https://voche.me/bc/langley-township-2026/results#councillor)

Elected to Langley Township Council on October 17, 2026, with 14,650 votes, sixth of the 20 council candidates, in what her own page calls her first run for office. A member of the Township's Heritage Advisory Committee and, by her own account, a stakeholder engagement advisor at BC Hydro, she ran with Langley Strong on consultation before decisions, with meetings when working people can attend, an updated Fort Langley community plan with clear height and design standards, bus and parking plans ready for SkyTrain, and seniors' groups and a shuttle pilot in every neighbourhood.

Lauren Chalus was elected to the Township of Langley Council on October 17, 2026, with 14,650 votes, sixth of the 20 candidates, in the Township's official count, declared by the Chief Election Officer on October 21, 2026. The Township's results page prints Langley Strong as her elector organization, and the Langley Advance Times named her and Teresa Townsley as the two new councillors elected with the team. The Township's Heritage Advisory Committee page lists her among its 2026 appointed members. The Advance Times reported on May 19, 2026 that Langley Strong had named her a council candidate and, from the team's announcement, that she works at BC Hydro and worked on the Trans Mountain pipeline expansion; by her own account she is a stakeholder engagement advisor there and holds a Bachelor of Environment from Simon Fraser University. In February 2025 the paper quoted her as a resident at an open house on the Fraser Highway employment lands, saying consultation with affected neighbours was not happening. She ran on consultation that comes first and on a Fort Langley community plan with clear standards for building heights and design.

01 / Introduction

## About Lauren Chalus

Lauren Chalus was elected to the Township of Langley Council on October 17, 2026, with 14,650 votes, sixth of the 20 candidates for the eight seats, in the Township's official results declared on October 21, 2026. The Langley Advance Times reported that she and Teresa Townsley were the two new councillors elected with the Langley Strong team, which also won the mayor's chair for Jay Lundgren and all five Township seats on the Langley Board of Education, and pictured her with Lundgren and Margaret Kunst on election night. The Township's 2022 results list no candidacy for her, and on her Langley Strong page she calls this her first run for office. The new Council's inaugural meeting is on November 2, 2026.

The Advance Times reported on May 19, 2026 that Langley Strong had announced her and Townsley as council candidates, and, from the team's announcement, that she works at BC Hydro as a project engagement and relationship lead, worked on the Trans Mountain pipeline expansion project and sits on the Township's Heritage Advisory Committee. The Township's own committee page lists her among the committee's 2026 appointed members. By her own account on the Langley Strong site she has lived in the Township for more than ten years, in the Salmon River area, is now a stakeholder engagement advisor at BC Hydro after a post in its Indigenous relations group, spent nearly four years in stakeholder relations on the Trans Mountain Expansion Project, worked earlier for the City of Mission and FortisBC, and holds a Bachelor of Environment in resource and environmental management from Simon Fraser University with a minor in Indigenous studies. voche.me has not checked the jobs or the degree with the employers or the university.

Before the campaign she spoke as a resident on the Fraser Highway employment lands plan. On February 1, 2025 the Advance Times reported from a Township open house on the plan, which would set land north of Fraser Highway aside for industry, and quoted her saying that consultation with the neighbours directly affected was not happening. On her page she writes that she played a leading role in advocating for balanced planning on those lands and has spoken at public hearings on planning and agricultural issues. The Langley Strong platform promises to refocus the plan on land fronting Fraser Highway itself.

At the Fort Langley all-candidates meeting on September 21, 2026 she said the village's community plan should be updated with clear standards for building heights and design, and called Fort Langley's character one of the Township's greatest strengths, the Advance Times reported. At the Chamber of Commerce meeting on September 29 she said the community needed to be ready for SkyTrain with bus feeder networks and a parking strategy that lets people park once and walk. At the Aldergrove meeting on October 5, after Progress for Langley's Michael Pratt said the Langley Strong platform wanted to develop the 900-acre naval radio station lands, she said the team's policy was not to fill in the site and that its wetlands, riparian setbacks and provincial law would apply.

In Langley Strong's seniors release of September 11, 2026 she said loneliness affects a senior as much as any bill, and that the team would open existing recreation spaces to seniors' groups in every neighbourhood and run a shuttle pilot so people can get to them. In its farmland and heritage release of October 2 she said growth and heritage can fit together only if the Township requires it and listens to the volunteers who know the history best. On her page she lists eight priorities, among them tax, fee and utility decisions weighed against what a household can carry, consultation that comes first with meetings when working people can attend, reports released before the vote, growth sequenced with roads, utilities, parks and services, and heritage and rural character treated as assets.

## Priorities & positions

Campaign-source summary

Summarized from the campaign’s published profile. These are stated positions, not an assessment of results or a complete platform.

01

### Consultation that comes first, at times working people can attend

She lists consultation that comes first among her priorities: real public input with enough time and information to respond, meetings scheduled when working people can attend, and a clear account afterward of how the input shaped the decision. On her page she calls consultation that does not change a decision performative.

05

### Affordability for young families and working professionals

She lists affordability first among her priorities: tax, fee and utility decisions weighed against what a household can carry, and housing choices that let people starting out or raising children stay in Langley. On her page she writes that Council sets property taxes, utility rates, the charges built into a new home and the Township's debt.

06

### Heritage and rural character protected

## What voche.me has checked

Researched on 2026-10-30 through the seven search steps listed below: the Township's results page, declaration of candidates and About the Candidates page, and its Heritage Advisory Committee page; her page on the Langley Strong site, the team page, the full platform, the team's announcement of May 19 and the releases of September 11 and October 2, 2026 that quote her; her VoteMate page; the Fraser Valley News Network's item of May 20; the Advance Times' candidate profile of October 8, 2026 and its reports of February 1, 2025 and May 19, September 11 and 24, October 3, 7, 17, 19 and 22, 2026.

Her committee seat is confirmed by the Township's own page. Her jobs at BC Hydro and on the Trans Mountain project, her earlier work and her degree are her own account, printed by the Advance Times from the team's announcement, and have not been checked with the employers or the university. Her Facebook and Instagram accounts, the ones she gave the Township, were not read, because both sites show a login page to scripts. She held no elected office before the vote, so no council minutes apply; the committee's minutes were not read.
