School Trustee · Langley Township 2026

# Kathie Dalziel

- Elected, School Trustee13,501 votes, 5th of 15. Official count, Township of Langley. [All results](https://voche.me/bc/langley-township-2026/results#school-trustee)

Elected school trustee of Langley Township on October 17, 2026, with 13,501 votes, fifth of the 15 trustee candidates and the last seat, in her first run for office. A Walnut Grove parent volunteer who has worked in finance and now at BC Cancer, she ran with Langley Strong on a clear line from every family to the Board and a budget explained in plain language before decisions are made.

Kathie Dalziel was elected to the Langley Board of Education on October 17, 2026, with 13,501 votes, fifth of the 15 candidates for the Township's five seats, in the Township's official count, declared by the Chief Election Officer on October 21, 2026. The Township's results page prints Langley Strong as her elector organization. Langley Strong announced on September 16, 2026 that she had joined its team, and its page for her says this is her first run for office. By her own account she has lived in Walnut Grove for 11 years, worked almost 20 years in the financial sector, works as a medical secretary at BC Cancer, served as vice-president of her daughter's parent advisory council and secretary of the Langley District Parent Advisory Council, and is vice-president of the Lower Fraser Valley Aboriginal Society. In the Langley Advance Times' candidate profile she wrote that she believes in equity, accessibility, inclusion, transparency and accountability, and on election night she told the paper she was ready to work.

01 / Introduction

## About Kathie Dalziel

Kathie Dalziel was elected to the Langley Board of Education on October 17, 2026, with 13,501 votes, fifth of the 15 candidates for the five Township seats, in the Township's official results declared on October 21, 2026. The Langley Advance Times reported that Langley Strong swept all five Township seats on the Board, which has two more seats elected in Langley City, and won the mayor's chair and six of the eight council seats; at the organization's election night event she told the paper she was excited to get started. The new Board's inaugural meeting is on November 3, 2026, by the District's meeting schedule.

Langley Strong announced on September 16, 2026 that she would seek a Township seat with its team, and its page for her says this is her first run for office. By her own account on that page, her family has lived in Walnut Grove for 11 years; she spent almost 20 years in the financial sector before moving into health care, where she works as a medical secretary at BC Cancer; she served as vice-president of her daughter's school parent advisory council and as secretary of the Langley District Parent Advisory Council; and she has sat for five years on the board of the Lower Fraser Valley Aboriginal Society, where she is vice-president. She writes that she is part of Langley's Indigenous community. voche.me has not checked the jobs or the board roles; the society's site did not answer on October 30, 2026, and the District Parent Advisory Council's executive page lists a later executive. In the Advance Times' candidate profile of October 8 she described herself as a mother and a medical secretary at BC Cancer, a Walnut Grove homeowner for 11 years and a renter there before that.

In the announcement she said she had spent years advocating for children and families as a parent volunteer and that running for trustee was the next step, that families deserve a trustee who can read the budget's numbers and explain them in plain language, and that a school board should look and sound like the community it serves. In the organization's trustee platform release of September 19 she said strong community means every new school planned as a neighbourhood hub and the Board sitting down with both councils three times a year. No report of a court matter names her.

On her page she lists five things she will push for, all from the Langley Strong platform: support for students who need the most help; staff who feel valued and able to build a career in Langley; classrooms, sites and new schools planned ahead of growth; parents with a clear line to the Board, with parent advisory councils treated as partners; and careful guardianship of public dollars, with budgets explained in plain language before decisions are made. In the Advance Times' profile she wrote that she wants to make the Langley School District the best in Canada.

### A clear line from every family to the Board

### A budget explained in plain language

She writes that nearly twenty years in finance taught her to read a budget and follow the money, and that she will push for budgets explained in plain language before decisions are made, asking what a thing costs now and what it will cost to run in three years.

### A Board that looks and sounds like the community

In the announcement of September 16, 2026 she said a school board should look and sound like the community it serves, and that she wants families who do not always see themselves reflected at the table to know someone is listening.

Research status

## What voche.me has checked

Researched on 2026-10-30 through the seven search steps listed below: the Township's results page, declaration of candidates and About the Candidates page; the Langley School District's trustee page and board meetings page; her page on the Langley Strong site, the team page, the trustee platform, its release of September 19 and her announcement of September 16, 2026; her VoteMate page; the Advance Times' candidate profile of October 8 and its election night reports of October 17, 2026; and the Langley District Parent Advisory Council's executive page.

Her count comes from the Township. Her jobs, her parent council roles and her place on the Lower Fraser Valley Aboriginal Society's board are her own account; the society's site did not answer, and the District Parent Advisory Council's executive page lists a later executive. Her Facebook page, the one she gave the Township, was not read, because the site shows a login page to scripts. She held no office before this election, so no Board record was read. A name search found no news report about her other than the Advance Times' election coverage, and no report of a 2026 trustee all-candidates meeting quoting her.
