School Trustee · Langley Township 2026

# Holly Dickinson

- Elected, School Trustee15,287 votes, 2nd of 15. Official count, Township of Langley. [All results](https://voche.me/bc/langley-township-2026/results#school-trustee)

Re-elected school trustee of Langley Township on October 17, 2026, with 15,287 votes, second of the 15 trustee candidates. Elected in 2022 with Eric Woodward's Contract With Langley, she left that slate in December 2023 and ran with Langley Strong, the only member of the Board teaching full time. She ran on new schools funded ahead of growth, completion rates for Indigenous students and students with diverse abilities, and mental health support students can reach.

Holly Dickinson was re-elected to the Langley Board of Education on October 17, 2026, with 15,287 votes, second of the 15 candidates for the Township's five seats, in the Township's official count, declared by the Chief Election Officer on October 21, 2026. The Township's results page prints Langley Strong as her elector organization. The Langley School District's trustee page lists her as a trustee, and the Township's 2022 results give her 11,159 votes, the most of the Township's trustee candidates that year. The Aldergrove Star reported that she was elected in 2022 as a member of Contract With Langley, the organization now named Progress for Langley, and that she left it on December 23, 2023, citing differences in vision and values. The Langley Advance Times reported on September 2, 2026 that she joined Langley Strong, that she has taught since 2012 in the Surrey School District, which makes her the only member of the Board who works in a classroom, and that she has served as the Board's vice-chair. The Board's letter of June 4, 2025 records the motion, carried unanimously on May 27, 2025, asking the Province to fund the schools in Langley's capital plan; by her own account she brought it forward.

01 / Introduction

## About Holly Dickinson

Holly Dickinson was re-elected to the Langley Board of Education on October 17, 2026, with 15,287 votes, second of the 15 candidates for the five Township seats, in the Township's official results declared on October 21, 2026. The Langley Advance Times reported that Langley Strong swept all five Township seats on the Board, which has two more seats elected in Langley City, and won the mayor's chair and six of the eight council seats. The new Board's inaugural meeting is on November 3, 2026, by the District's meeting schedule.

The Township's 2022 results give her 11,159 votes, first of the Township's trustee candidates, and the District's trustee page lists her as a trustee on October 30, 2026. The Aldergrove Star reported that she placed fifth of seven in the February 2021 byelection, with 332 votes, and that in October 2022 she was one of three Contract With Langley members elected to the Board, with Joel Neufeld and Sarb Rai. On December 29, 2023 the Star reported that she had left Contract With Langley on December 23, citing what she called fundamental differences in vision and values, and that she said she and Mayor Eric Woodward had different beliefs about governance. Woodward said he respected her decision and that she had agreed at the start of the term to rotate the vice-chair post with Neufeld and Rai and had not followed through; she answered that the whole Board elects the vice-chair and that her decision had nothing to do with conflict with other trustees. The Advance Times reported on September 2, 2026 that she had served as vice-chair and represents the Board on the BC School Trustees Association's Provincial Council, the Langley Local Immigration Partnership and the District's 2SLGBTQ+ committee.

The Advance Times reported that she has been a teacher since 2012 and works in the Surrey School District, which makes her the only member of the Board who works in a classroom; trustees in BC cannot work for the district they govern. By her own account on the Langley Strong site, she grew up in Brookswood, went to Langley schools from kindergarten to grade 12, studied psychology at Simon Fraser University and completed a Bachelor of Education at the University of British Columbia, and before teaching worked in human resources, where she recruited more than a thousand workers, many for a venue of the 2010 Winter Games. voche.me has not checked the degrees or the earlier work.

The Board's letter of June 4, 2025 to the Premier and three ministers records a motion carried unanimously on May 27, 2025, asking the Province to reconsider its response to Langley's 2025/26 capital plan and fund the schools in it at once; Langley Strong's release of August 28, 2026 says she brought the motion forward, which is her own account. The release also says she advanced two resolutions through the BC School Trustees Association, on federal funding for newcomer students learning English and on the Province's funding model for students with intensive needs; voche.me has not checked them against the association's records. No report of a court matter names her.

Langley Strong announced on August 28, 2026 that she would seek a second term with the team, joining Charlie Fox and Candy Ashdown, and said she had sat as an independent since 2023. The Advance Times reported that her focus for a second term would be new school construction in Willoughby and the District's other fast-growing communities, completion rates for Indigenous students and students with diverse abilities, and mental health supports in Langley schools. On her page she lists eight things she will keep pushing for, including a provincial funding model that matches the support students with intensive needs require, targeted funding for schools taking in newcomer and refugee students, staff recruitment and budgets that hold up over years with reports released before the vote. In the organization's trustee platform release of September 19 she said strong students means every child learns, belongs and has a caring adult to turn to on the hard days. In the Advance Times' candidate profile of October 8 she wrote that public education is her passion and that students and staff deserve strong voices at the Board table.

## What voche.me has checked

Researched on 2026-10-30 through the seven search steps listed below: the Township's results page, declaration of candidates and About the Candidates page; the Township's 2022 results page; the Langley School District's trustee page, its board meetings page and the Board's letter of June 4, 2025 to the Province; her page on the Langley Strong site, the team page, the trustee platform, its release of September 19 and her announcement of August 28, 2026; her VoteMate page; the Advance Times' candidate profile of October 8 and its reports of September 2 and October 17, 2026; the Aldergrove Star's report of December 29, 2023; and its reports of March 2021 and October 2022, read from Internet Archive copies because the Star's old addresses now open its home page.

Her 2022 count, her listing as a trustee and the Board's motion of May 27, 2025 come from the Township and the District. Her teaching career and her vice-chair role are reported by the Advance Times; her degrees, her earlier work, her part in the 2025 motion and her resolutions at the trustees' association are her own account. Her Instagram account, the one she gave the Township, and the Facebook page named in the Advance Times profile were not read, because both sites show a login page to scripts. No minutes were found on the District's site, so no Board vote other than the one the letter records was read. No report of a 2026 trustee all-candidates meeting quoting her was found.
