Environment Canada issued a wind warning on Friday, November 6, 2026 for a large part of Metro Vancouver, with Tsawwassen and Boundary Bay in South Delta among the areas specifically named, the North Delta Reporter reported.

Sustained southeasterly winds near 70 kilometres per hour are expected to start Friday morning and continue through the afternoon before weakening, according to Environment Canada, as reported by the North Delta Reporter. The winds are coming from a low pressure system affecting the region.

Environment Canada said local utility outages are possible. The federal agency encouraged Metro Vancouver residents, including those in Tsawwassen and South Delta, to secure loose objects outside their homes before and during the wind event.

## What the warning covers

Environment Canada's warning covers much of Metro Vancouver and areas near the water, including Tsawwassen and Boundary Bay, according to the North Delta Reporter. White Rock and areas along the southern shore of the Fraser delta are also named.

The North Delta Reporter reported that the warning also includes Surrey and Langley. Areas further from the water, such as North Delta and Ladner, may see less impact than the waterfront areas of Tsawwassen.

## What residents can do

Residents in Tsawwassen and South Delta can prepare by securing anything outdoors that could be moved by strong winds: patio furniture, garden pots, garbage and recycling bins, and any lightweight items stored outside. Vehicles parked near trees should be moved away when possible.

If a power outage occurs, residents can contact BC Hydro to report it and check their online outage map. Environment Canada warns that utility companies may experience service disruptions during events like this one.

Environment Canada updates its warnings as conditions change throughout the day. Delta residents can check for the latest weather advisories at weather.gc.ca or follow local outlets for updates throughout Friday. The warning is in effect from Friday morning until winds weaken in the afternoon.
