A semi-trailer heading south on Highway 99 struck the Ladner Trunk Road overpass in Delta on the morning of Wednesday, November 4, 2026. Both southbound lanes and the overpass itself were closed while crews checked the damage, the Delta Optimist and Global News BC reported.

BC Highway Patrol received the call at 10:39 a.m. Officers found visible damage to the overpass, the Delta Optimist reported. The driver of the white Kenworth tractor-trailer stopped at the scene. Global News BC reported the truck was heading south near Boundary Bay Airport when it hit the overpass.

"We're working with the BC Ministry of Transportation to ensure that the overpass is safe, and we're asking drivers to avoid the area because delays will be significant," Sgt. Michael McLaughlin of BC Highway Patrol said in a news release. "If you are a witness, and particularly if you have dash-camera video of the events leading up to the collision, please call police."

## The eighth strike this year

The Vancouver Sun reported that the collision was the eighth overpass strike in BC in 2026 and the 85th since the Ministry of Transportation began keeping a count in late 2021.

BC Highway Patrol is working with Commercial Vehicle Safety and Enforcement, the Ministry of Transportation branch that checks commercial trucks, to find the cause, the Delta Optimist and Global News BC reported. No cause had been made public in the reports of November 4.

## Who to call

BC Highway Patrol asks anyone who saw the collision, or has dashcam video, to call its Burnaby office at 604-526-9744 and quote file number (1004) 2026-1918. The Delta Optimist, the North Delta Reporter, Global News BC, the Vancouver Sun, Daily Hive and RED FM all carried the request.

The news release pointed drivers to DriveBC, the Ministry of Transportation's road conditions site at drivebc.ca, for closures and delays on Highway 99, the Delta Optimist reported.
