The Delta Hospital and Community Health Foundation has completed its $8 million fundraising campaign for a new endoscopy unit at the Delta Hospital Campus of Care, after Ryan and Cindy Beedie donated $500,000 to close the campaign, the Foundation announced October 30.

Construction on the Jim Pattison Endoscopy Unit is underway. The Foundation says first patients are expected in 2027.

## What is being built

The new unit will expand the hospital's endoscopy space from 775 square feet to more than 3,000 square feet, according to the Foundation. It will include advanced endoscopy technology, dedicated procedure and recovery areas, enhanced infection control standards and improved patient flow.

The Foundation says the expansion is designed to reduce wait times and allow more patients to access care close to home. It will serve Delta residents and people in surrounding communities.

## Who gave

Ryan Beedie, who donated the final $500,000 alongside his wife Cindy, said in a statement quoted by the Delta Optimist: "Good care shouldn't mean a long wait when you're worried about your health." The Beedies had earlier made a separate $5 million gift toward the future Beedie Long Term Care Centre at Delta Hospital.

"Ryan and Cindy have once again demonstrated an extraordinary commitment to our community," said Lisa Hoglund, the Foundation's CEO. "Their generosity has brought this campaign to a successful close and will have a lasting impact on healthcare in Delta."

The Foundation said the $8 million came from hundreds of community donors.

## For Delta residents

Delta residents who need endoscopy screening can expect improved access at Delta Hospital when the Jim Pattison Endoscopy Unit opens in 2027. The Foundation says the unit will serve Delta residents and people from surrounding communities, with reduced wait times for screening and diagnostic procedures. Delta Hospital is at 5800 Mountain View Blvd.
