01 / Introduction

## About Val Windsor

Val Windsor was re-elected to the Delta Board of Education on October 17, 2026. The City of Delta's official count gives her 15,019 votes, the most of the 18 candidates for seven seats, and the Chief Election Officer declared her elected on October 21, 2026. The North Delta Reporter reported that this was 9.18 per cent of the ballots cast for trustee and that she won a fifth term, with One Delta electing five of the seven trustees.

The Delta School District's trustee page gives 2011 as the year she was first elected, and the Delta Optimist reported in September 2011 on her first campaign. The District's posts on its annual election of the chair record that she was vice-chair from 2013 to 2018, was elected chair for the first time in 2019, was re-elected chair in November 2020, 2021, 2022 and 2023, served as vice-chair from November 2024 under chair Joe Muego, and stayed a member of the Board when Ammen Dhillon became vice-chair in November 2025. The Optimist reported that in 2022 she ran with Achieving for Delta, and the Reporter reported on April 28, 2026 that she, Dhillon and Masako Gooch had joined One Delta, the organization formed by four councillors after Mayor George Harvie's organization dropped them.

The Optimist described her in 2011 as a former president of the Delta Teachers' Association, and the District's posts describe her as a retired teacher and a former member of the BC Teachers' Federation executive who serves on the Metro Vancouver English Language Learners Consortium. In November 2023 the Optimist reported that, back as chair, she was lobbying the Province for continued funding for English language learners. By her own account, on the One Delta team page and in her 2022 statement to the Optimist, she was the Delta Teachers' Association's president for eight years, serves on the Inclusive Learning Committee, the District and City liaison committee and the Delta Youth Advisory Council, chaired the English language learners consortium for three years, and counts the Delta Community College building and the District's work on Truth and Reconciliation and Indigenous graduation rates among the work she is proud of. voche.me has not checked those roles with the association or the consortium.

In the Reporter's questionnaire she named three priorities: strengthening literacy, numeracy and early intervention; supporting educators and staff; and expanding career and graduation pathways. She wrote that she will support early identification of learning needs, effective instruction and timely intervention, and connect those foundations to trades, technology, career programs and post-secondary pathways. In One Delta's platform release of September 29, 2026, the Reporter reported, she said the Board has a responsibility to manage resources carefully and, when they are not enough, to advocate to the provincial government. She announced the slate's Safe Routes to School plan on September 1, 2026. The One Delta school platform carries the slate's promises, listed on this page as the organization's.

Researched on 2026-10-30 through the seven search steps listed below: the City's declaration of results, results by polling location, declaration of candidates and candidates page; the Delta School District's trustee page and its posts of November 2020, 2022, 2023, 2024 and 2025 on the election of the chair; the One Delta team page, school platform, release of April 28, 2026 and Safe Routes release of September 1, 2026; her VoteMate page; the North Delta Reporter's questionnaire and its reports of April 28, September 29 and October 18, 2026; Daily Hive's report of May 30, 2026; the Cloverdale Reporter's report of September 5, 2018; and the Delta Optimist's reports of September 2011, October 2018, September, October and November 2022 and November 2023, each read from an Internet Archive copy because the Optimist's article pages refuse scripts.

Her years on the Board and her terms as chair and vice-chair come from the District's own pages. Her teaching career and her union presidency are reported by the Optimist and the District; her committee roles and her eight years as president are her own account. Her Facebook account was not read, because the site shows a login page to scripts. The Board's minutes were not read for this page. No report of a 2026 all-candidates meeting quoting her was found.
