01 / Introduction ## About Stephen Andrada Stephen Andrada was elected to the Burnaby Board of Education on October 17, 2026. The City of Burnaby's count gives him 19,624 votes, the sixth-highest total of the 16 candidates for the seven trustee seats, and the City's chief election officer declared him elected on October 21, 2026. He ran with the Burnaby Citizens Association, whose seven trustee candidates took all seven seats. He was not on the board in the 2022 to 2026 term, by the Burnaby Schools trustee page. The Philippine Canadian Inquirer reported in September 2026 that the BCA had named him, a Filipino-Canadian community leader, as a school board candidate, and that he had served as president of the University of the Philippines Alumni Association in British Columbia. On October 20 it reported his election as one of four Filipino-Canadians who won seats in BC's municipal elections. By his own account, in the statement he gave the City and in the Freshet News questionnaire, he has lived in Burnaby for 14 years, works as a director of employment and career services helping newcomers settle and find work, and holds a bachelor's degree in political science and economics from the University of the Philippines, a master's in management, and a master's in public administration from the University of Baguio. voche.me has not checked these. In the Freshet News questionnaire he named three top issues: making sure every student is safe and seen, funding classrooms by keeping education assistant ratios and frontline supports, and pressing Ottawa to keep funding Settlement Workers in Schools. His promise tracker holds his own promises from that questionnaire and the BCA platform's school commitments.
