01 / Introduction ## About Bill Brassington Bill Brassington was re-elected to the Burnaby Board of Education on October 17, 2026. The City of Burnaby's count gives him 21,341 votes, the second-highest total of the 16 candidates for the seven trustee seats, and the City's chief election officer declared him elected on October 21, 2026. He ran with the Burnaby Citizens Association. Its seven trustee candidates took all seven seats, and Freshet News listed him in September 2026 as one of three BCA trustees seeking re-election. He was first elected in 2018: the Burnaby Schools post on the board sworn in that November lists him as vice-chair of a board with five new members, and the board's minutes show him re-elected vice-chair in November 2021. Burnaby Now reported in November 2022 that he had won a second term that October, as one of five BCA incumbents re-elected. The board's minutes show it chose him as chair by acclamation on November 22, 2022 and again on November 28, 2023, and in November 2024 it elected him as the alternate to its provincial councillor at the BC School Trustees Association. By his own account, in the statement he gave the City and on the BCA's page, he has sat on the District Community School Advisory Committee and on the City of Burnaby's Parks, Recreation and Culture Commission and Transportation Committee, chaired the district's audit sub-committee, and has volunteered in Burnaby for more than 30 years as a parent advisory council chair and a youth baseball and softball coach. voche.me has not checked these. In the Freshet News questionnaire he named fully funded classrooms, safer and larger school buildings, and child care on school sites as his top issues. He wrote that the BCA will continue to protect classrooms from cuts and will urge the Province to fix the funding formula for public education. His promise tracker holds his own promises from that questionnaire and the BCA platform's school commitments.
